ADVENT PEACE

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
DECEMBER 10, 2023

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her,
that her warfare is accomplished,
that her iniquity is pardoned:
for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the Lord,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low:
and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough places plain:

ISAIAH 40:1-4 (KING JAMES VERSION)

Before anything else, set aside TEN MINUTES for today’s reflection.

God’s words of comfort to us are about to take us in a different direction.

Instead of writing, I want you to watch the following video and hear the Old Testament reading from Isaiah, which is assigned for this Second Sunday of Advent.

If you are at all familiar with Handel’s Messiah, you will recognize the tune. I will not ruin it with any further commentary. The music speaks prayerfully enough for itself.

“Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God.”

May God’s grace, peace, love, and mercy comfort you this day and always. Amen.
