RETURN OF THE RESTED

[Jesus said:]
“Come to me, all you who are weary
and are carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.”

[matthew 11:28 nrsvue]

It’s the first of July and I am back at my desktop inspired and invigorated.

Not that I’ve missed sitting in front of my computer screen, but I do have things to share and what better time to do so than at the beginning of the second half of the year.

During my nearly three-month absence, my wife and I took a cruise to the British Isles, and, believe me, I’ve got a ton of photos to show you. But I’ll spare you.

Why the British Isles?

Well, that’s what binging on BritBox murder mysteries will do to you – force you to go admire the breathtaking British countryside for yourself.

Seriously, I’ve wanted to see and judge for myself whether it’s as spectacular as it looks on television.

What I didn’t factor in was the weather.

The cinematographers don’t film on anything that isn’t a sunny day, unless of course, the inclement weather adds to the drama.

Since my return, I’ve spent a lot of time fussing with photo editing software trying to make pictures look presentable, but with what I consider limited success.

I went so far as to experiment with AI to find more favorable results.

Not one for dishonesty, here is the original image of the photo featured above to prove my point.

It’s a scene of the harbor in Bergen, Norway. I’m told it’s normally this rainy and foggy.

I just had to get rid of the low-hanging clouds. And the fog was horrendous.

For two-thirds of our time, that was the order of the day.

The saving grace was the final three sunny days in London, which managed to make up for the rest of the dreariness.

In any case, I’m leaving you with a slide show of some of the places I found interesting.

There were castles and cathedrals galore, which were obviously of interest to me. The challenge was getting a decent image without dozens of people in the way.

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve easily got a thousand to show, but I promise not to bore you with my travelogue. I will, however, drop a shot in from time to time, just so I can make use of my amateurish efforts.

So, enjoy the scenery. I’ll be dropping by occasionally to share more.

A Prayer for Travelers:
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: Preserve those who travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey’s end; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Book of Common Prayer, p. 831)
